Woodland METRO SOCCER
Metro (or Select) is a level of soccer between
recreational and competitive. It offers an
environment for dedicated and skilled players to
develop and play. Metro is classified as
a Class III youth soccer league. (Recreational
teams are Class IV. Competitive teams
are Class I.)
In Metro league play, you may play
teams from Fairfield to El Dorado Hills
to Elk Grove to Chico. The greatest difference
between recreation and select is the
opportunity for tournament play. The number of
Tournaments is determined by the
individual Metro teams. There can be as many as
8 Tournaments a year.
Cost for Metro
is higher than Recreation. Actual cost for
playing in Metro is determined by individual
teams. Additional cost for playing Metro,
besides the normal registration fees, are
uniforms, equipment, trainer and entry fees for
each Tournament.
Metro teams are
normally formed by returning teams from the
previous year or a
Recreational team that decides to advance to the
higher level. Typically these teams
have a limited number of returning or core
players. To fill out the teams there will be
open tryouts.
